What is the seriousness of being charged with possession of another person's id in California?

i found this link, http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9A.56.330 but it's for washington and i'm wondering what what goes for california. the officer wrote a citation and said i'd have to pay a hefty fine and possibly appear in court. will this go on my record or affect my ability to get jobs or anything? my record is totally clean besides a minor traffic violation.
