Girls, would I turn you off?

I have never had a girlfriend before and I always seem to mess up any relation ship situations, and often girls seem awkward around me. Do I sound like I would turn you off: I have brown eyes, lightly tanned olive skin, dark brown neatly cut hair, tall, broad shouldered, but I am not athletic and I've been told that wearing metal band t shirts is a turn off. However I am very clean cut and I don't see whats up with the girls i try to get with.
