Why i had a panic attack last night?

so i haven't been able to get to sleep too easily over past two nights. but last night i had a like panic attack where i was shaking etc. its cause i thought there was someone in the house cos i heard like creaking outside in thehall and heard banging from outside, the banging sounds were really loud like a helicopter taking off but like less than that. i heard like t, drilling and stuff coming from outside. i then had like a panic attack and started shaking and now i remember that i kept like clawing at my skin until i bled, i then went into my mums room and was like crying and shaking so much. was this like imagination or something else. i was wide awake, yet there wasnt actually anything outside?
